Where i’ve been working:
Senior Copywriter – Freelance
July 2013 – Present
I have been enjoying another spell as a freelancer, helping agencies from big to small on all types of projects.
I do concepts, copywriting, crafting, and other things that don’t start with ‘c’ (Writing and producing radio ads, for example. Some people find radio a challenge but I really enjoy it).
If you need a hand, please get in touch. I have day and weekly rates, and i’m open to working outside of NSW.
Sydney Area, Australia.
Working on KFC, GSK, Coca Cola, Australian Rugby Union, the Australian Government, and other global brands.
Internationally, I manage a native New Zealand tag team called, ‘The Iwi’. In 2012, we made a month long tour of the United States, including house shows and TV tapings for OVW (TNA developmental group), FSW and a dark match tryout for TNA Impact Wrestling at their TV facility based at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida.
In 2011 we made a successful 6 week tour of 10 United States and 4 Canadian Provinces. Companies worked for included OVW (including their TV tapings and live shows), UCW, FSW and M1W.
I am also involved in giving young New Zealand talent a hand in working overseas, calling on my rapidly increasing network of wrestling friends and colleagues across the globe.
This was a radio show segment, allotted 30 minutes but usually ran up to 45. A magazine style segment where we discussed news made by musicians, often of a humorous and frankly bizarre nature. We also created our own satirical advertisements, gave out prizes, and tried to involve the public as much as possible. It turned out to be one of the highest rated segments on the network.
Started out putting up rings and taking them down and managing occasionally. Moved on to managing full time, other positions held include host of the weekly national “IPW Ignition” television show, television and live event commentator, ring announcer, booker/matchmaker, talen liason and on the rare occasion, getting my comeuppance in the wrestling ring.
I am “Mr 100%” Gary O. Davis, the man they love to hate.
Walked in off the street in 2001, got hired in 2002 and stayed 9 years, all up. Clients included SKY Television, McDonald’s, Heinz Watties, Volkswagen, New Zealand Cricket, Freedom Airlines, Durex, Liquor King/Lion Nathan, The Warehouse, ACP Media, AMI Insurance, Clrox, Cadbury, Philips, Stihl, the New Zealand SAS and several others.
I was awarded by various shows and publications including Axis, AWARD, MSN, EFFIES, Pinnacles, Campaign Brief, AdMedia and bestadsontv.com
I had a great time and learned so much.
